Pockets of Gold

Montreal vocalist Karen Myatt releases Pockets of Gold ~ the first single from her forthcoming album Valise.

Co-produced and engineered by Christian St. Germain, Pockets of Gold is a powerful and poignant anthem celebrating the resilience of the human spirit.

“At a time when ‘divide-and-conquer’ politics continue to impact our daily lives, the new song reflects upon the recurring cycles of conflict, displacement, and human rights violations across the globe,” muses Myatt.

“Over the course of human history, each time the boot of oppression has come down on an individual or upon society it has been pushed right back up, and artists have played a vital role in that revolution. Today – more than ever before – artists have a responsibility both to reflect the times and to betray the times. As such, Pockets of Gold is a rebel song with its message of hope and the reminder that we all have the right to be here – that existence is resistance.”

Myatt’s new album Valise – which will be released globally on September 4 – captures and conveys both the act and the art of sacred travel. Inspired by journeys – internal and external – over the past decade, the new songs explore time travel, spiritual quest, and multi-cultural pilgrimage – experiences that exist beyond the trappings of tourism.
